Spider Vein Treatments
Sclerotherapy is the gold standard for treating spider veins (for legs, face, chest, and hands) and many types of varicose veins. This procedure involves injecting a solution into the abnormal veins to cause them to close. There is an array of solution types and concentrations that are used to maximize your results. The treatment will be done while cold air is blown on your skin to give you the most comfortable treatment possible in addition to a hand held vibrator placed against your skin.
Varicose Vein Treatments
Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy is used to treat some types of varicose veins. This involves a one time injection of a mousse type solution that is stronger than the liquid solution. The placement of the solution is seen on ultrasound. This is best used to treat varicose veins that are not at the surface of the skin since it may cause staining of the skin.
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) is a FDA approved procedure that now has been performed for over 10 years and has revolutionized the treatment of varicose veins. A small fiberoptic laser is threaded into the abnormal vein and then pulses of laser energy close the vein. This procedure is done in the office and requires no downtime. Patients are awake and the skin is numbed. There are no restrictions afterwards. Patients can walk immediately afterwards and recovery time is minimal. Patients can get back to work and pursue their normal routine activities.
Ambulatory Miniphlebectomy is an in office procedure also performed while the patient is awake and requires no downtime. The skin is numbed and the smallest incisions are made to take out the large and bulging varicose veins. Patients see an immediate improvement in the appearance of their bulging veins.
